About EsportsQuiz

EsportsQuiz is an independent daily quiz about professional Counter-Strike and Valorant. It exists because roster history is one of the most enjoyable parts of following esports and one of the hardest to remember: a player can move five times in three years, and an iconic five-man line-up can be scattered across the scene twelve months after lifting a trophy.

What the quiz covers

Counter-Strike coverage runs from the CS:GO era through CS2, centred on Major championships and other elite events. Valorant coverage starts with the first Masters events and runs through Champions and the franchised VCT era. Only players with at least one appearance at an elite event are used in rounds, which currently means several hundred careers per game plus a curated set of championship rosters.

How the data is compiled

Career timelines are reconstructed from public transfer and tournament records, then normalised: duplicate organisations are merged, academy and stand-in stints are separated from main-roster spells, and nicknames are indexed with their common spellings so leetspeak variants resolve to the same player. Roster snapshots for the Line-ups mode store the five players as they appeared at that specific event, with nationality and role, rather than the team's current line-up. Every record is reviewed in an internal editor before it is used in a round.

Reporting a mistake

Roster data ages quickly. If a round shows a stint with the wrong years, a missing team, or a line-up attributed to the wrong event, the fix belongs in the database and is applied for everyone. Reports are welcome — the aim is a reference-quality dataset that happens to be playable.

Independence

EsportsQuiz is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any team, player, tournament organiser or game publisher. Team names, nicknames and event names are used descriptively to identify the people and competitions being quizzed. The site is free to play and funded by advertising; ads appear only alongside editorial or gameplay content, never on empty or utility screens.
