Royal Never Give Up: two MSIs and the Uzi question
Royal Never Give Up grew out of Royal Club, the organisation that reached the 2013 and 2014 world finals and lost both. They are the only two-time Mid-Season Invitational champions, and they have never won Worlds — the exact inverse of the record most great teams have.
For a decade the team's identity was Uzi, the bot laner widely regarded as China's best-ever player and the most decorated to finish a career without a world title.

2018, the year it should have happened
RNG won the domestic league, MSI and the Asian Games demonstration event in the same year, and went into Worlds as favourites. They lost in the quarter-finals to G2 in one of the tournament's biggest upsets, and the eventual champions were their domestic rivals Invictus Gaming.
The organisation-name trap
Royal Club, Star Horn Royal Club and Royal Never Give Up are the same lineage under three names, and Uzi appears under all three. When a round shows a Royal roster from before 2016, the name on the screen is a clue about the year, not about the team.
